Ana Karen Garza

Partner · Former Chief Prosecutor, 406th Judicial District Court

Ana Karen Garza

Ana Karen Garza is a Laredo native, Partner at Gutierrez & Garza, and former felony prosecutor. During seven years in prosecution, including four years as Chief Prosecutor assigned to Webb County’s 406th Judicial District Court, she handled complex criminal matters and developed substantial courtroom and trial experience.

Her work as a prosecutor included serious felony cases requiring careful preparation, sound judgment, and direct communication with victims, witnesses, and law-enforcement agencies. That experience gives her a practical understanding of how the State evaluates, prepares, and presents a criminal case.

Today, Ana represents individuals and families in criminal-defense and personal-injury matters. She brings the same disciplined preparation and client-focused advocacy to each matter, whether helping someone navigate a criminal accusation or pursue accountability after a serious injury.

Robert Gutierrez

Robert Gutierrez is the Managing Partner of Gutierrez & Garza. After beginning his career in criminal defense and private practice, he served for more than five years as a Senior Assistant District Attorney and felony prosecutor in Webb County, handling serious felony matters and jury trials involving murder, capital murder, sexual offenses, aggravated assaults, and other complex cases.

His work as a prosecutor included the trial of State v. Joel David Chavez III. He later returned to criminal defense, where his practice includes state and federal matters. In 2025, he represented Jamal Julian Brown in a four-count felony jury trial in Webb County’s 406th District Court. The jury returned not-guilty verdicts on the two aggravated-assault counts, including the first- and second-degree felony charges, and guilty verdicts on the remaining unlawful-restraint and assault-family-violence counts.

Robert also serves as the Criminal Defense Attorney Representative on the Webb County Bail Bond Board.
